Barb Andersen and Son Andrew

I'm living just a few miles from the ocean in the resort community of San Clemente, California. I'm located half way between Los Angeles and San Diego but the best part is that the locals say the sun shines "342 days a year here." So far it's proven to be true.

I moved to San Clemente 3 years ago from Northern California after the "crash" of Silicon Valley". During my career I worked in a variety of international high tech and biotech marketing positions for 30+ years. I was at Apple computer for 10 years and had the opportunity to travel extensively working with their distributors in Asia and Europe. After Apple, I worked as a marketing VP for a biotech company and then for a few years I had my own consulting business.

When I first arrived in San Clemente, I found a job as a Property Manager. I had to have some surgery on my hand, which resulted in permanent nerve damage - a one in a million occurrence. Now I'm figuring out how to cope with the injury and reinvent myself for some new type of employment. I've got too much energy to retire, so I'm thinking about my next adventure.

As many of you many remember I married my college "sweetheart" from the University of Vermont right after graduation. He went to Vietnam a few weeks later. Fortunately he returned home safely, but his tour of duty was difficult and things were never the same. We stayed married for several years, but then divorced. However we have remained very close and it took lots of energy being a single parent, so I've never had another relationship.

My son, Andrew, and his wife live close by in Newport Beach where he is a real estate developer and builder. My parents (age 90) are in an assisted living apartment in Seattle near my sisters' Margie and Judy (and their families). My sister Pinny (Marilyn) lives in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Since1966, when our family moved from Mountain lakes to California, we have gotten together for a reunion every year. I am fortunate that all remain closely connected. I attribute this in many ways to the wonderful childhood we had growing up in Mountain Lakes.

If you are ever in southern California, please stop by.
